Come and Read at Prairie!
“America Reads – Reading is Contagious” is a challenge to improve literacy in elementary and intermediate school age children. We all know how important reading is in a child’s education and a great way to model reading is being a guest reader on America Reads day!
America Reads will be observed at all five Prairie elementary buildings and Prairie Creek Intermediate on Friday, October 26th. This will be a fun day featuring guest readers sharing their favorite books with our students. Last year we welcomed 659 special reading guests on our campus to celebrate the sharing of reading.
Please consider joining us as a guest reader! If you have elementary or intermediate aged children and want to read in their classrooms, please contact your child’s teacher for their schedule. If you don’t have a connection to a particular classroom, we will find a place for you. Contact our District Volunteer Coordinator, Kathy Waychoff, at 848-5224 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up.
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to the students at Prairie schools!
Are you looking for a fun way to be involved in your child’s classroom? For as little as 45 minutes a week, for 5-6 weeks, YOU can make a difference in the lives of young people in our community. Junior Achievement provides fun, hands-on activities to teach kids about financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship.
All of the materials come ready to go in a kit, along with a detailed step by step lesson guide to follow. It is easy and fun! Our local JA Education Manager is happy to train new volunteers.
The JA program is JA Economics for Success and will begin on or around October 29th. If you are interested, contact Angie Ward email@example.com
