Please Welcome New Staff At Heights

Darsha White, Nurse

Please meet our new nurse, Darsha White. Welcome to Heights, Darsha!  “I live in Ely with my husband of 21 years, Jay, and 19 yo daughter, Jenna (Sophomore at Grand View University in Des Moines), 17yo Prairie Senior Kendall, 14yo Prairie Freshmen Jensen (we call him JJ) & our mutt Shiloh. I graduated from the U of Iowa and worked at UIHC for a number of years before moving to Albuquerque then back to Ely. Last year I did a lot of subbing as a school nurse in the district. I even spent a couple days here at Heights when Julie was absent. My kids are pretty active (soccer, cross country, track, golf, tennis, etc) but in my spare time I run (2 marathons, 4 half-marathons & countless 5k’s), golf, hike, garden, & read. I’m very excited to be joining the Heights team and I look forward to meeting each of you and getting to know everyone. I’ll try to stop by to introduce myself to each of you but if you’re in the office before then give me a quick 6′ HELLO!”

Alex Carls, Art Teacher

Ms. Carls is joining us from the Springville Community School District and will be teaching art (in a remodeled art room!) Welcome, Ms. Carls. We are excited for you to join our family!

“I am so excited to be joining the Prairie Heights community! I graduated from Wartburg College in 2012 and spent the last 7 years teaching a blend of PK-12 art in the Springville CSD. I love to develop and encourage the artistic process for students while we have fun making artwork, messes, and memories. I spend my free time creating art, hanging out with family and friends, and being followed around by my super happy dog Bain. I can’t wait to meet you all and start our art adventures!”
Shannon Greenlee, Speech-Language-Pathologist
We are excited to welcome Mrs. Shannon Greenlee to our family. She will serve as our speech-language pathologist. Welcome to Heights, Mrs. Greenlee!
“I’m so excited to work and learn with you and your students this year. I LOVE my job as a speech language pathologist and am starting my 6th year as an SLP. I received my masters degree from the University of IL and began my career at a small school in western IL. My husband’s job took us to Knoxville, TN for 3 years and now to the Iowa City area. We absolutely love being back in the Midwest! Under typical circumstances, you can find us enjoying country concerts, trying new restaurants, and playing with our cockapoo, Paisley! I look forward to a great year!”

VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION IS OPEN!

You may complete the annual online volunteer registration for for the 2020-21 school year now! With rapidly changing Covid-19 circumstances, we are not sure what volunteering at Prairie Schools will look like when we resume school, however, we will keep you informed of any changes in our volunteer program. You may still complete the annual form now so you are ready to go!
This annual form is required of all Prairie volunteers and needs to be completed once per school year. Please remember that you must be an approved volunteer to chaperone field trips with your child. Because the safety of our students, staff, volunteers and visitors is important to us, all volunteers are checked against a national sex-offender database and will have a criminal background check performed as part of the registration.
The volunteer registration process will take you to a very short orientation. After you read through the orientation information, click on the link at the bottom of the page to be taken to the registration form to complete and submit. This orientation information is helpful to long-time volunteers and those that are new to volunteering at College Community Schools.
