Alison West Named Director of Curriculum And Assessment

The College Community School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Alison West, who is in her 18th year in education, to serve as the Director of Curriculum and Assessment effective July 1, 2019 pending board approval. 

As the Director of Curriculum and Assessment , West will be responsible for providing system leadership in the alignment of PK-12 curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

“We are excited to welcome Alison back to College Community in this leadership role,” said Tracy Schipper, Director of Education and Innovation.  “Alison is passionate about creating relationships and systems that ensure positive learning outcomes for students. Her strong knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment along with her extensive experience in facilitating school improvement efforts will be significant assets to our team.”

West is currently the School Improvement Consultant K-12/Agency Lead for MTSS at Grant Wood AEA. In this role she led and supported the implementation of Multi-Tiered System of supports (MTSS) in the areas of PK-12 literacy, mathematics, and behavior within the agency and school districts. During her tenure at Grant Wood she also served as a Curriculum Literacy Consultant. Prior to joining Grant Wood, West spent five years in the College Community School District where she was a first grade teacher at Prairie Crest Elementary School.  

“I am excited and honored to be returning to the College Community School District in this new role,” said West. “My work in education has been about supporting local school districts with curriculum, instruction and ensuring all students and educators have access to high levels of learning. I am looking forward to working with such dedicated staff and teachers and being a part of their continuous improvement efforts.” 

West received her Bachelor of Science degree in education from Drake University and holds a Master’s degree in education from Viterbo University. She also has a Master Educator’s License, an Advanced Studies Certificate in Educational Leadership and recently received her State of Iowa Administrator License.
