College Community Schools is pleased to announce that Ian Kleman will join Prairie High School as its associate principal starting July 1, 2019 pending Board approval. Kleman replaces Associate Principal Ryan Fritz who was recently named the building principal at Cascade High School.
“I believe that it is our responsibility to continue to build a supportive and collaborative spirit at Prairie High School,” said new high school principal Karla Thies. “I am excited to have Mr. Kleman join our administrative team. His experiences will reinforce building on the traditions of the past while progressing forward to meet the challenges of the future in innovative ways.”
Kleman, a native of Bridgeport, Michigan, began his teaching career in 1996 at Center Point-Urbana where he taught math. After Center Point, he has spent the last 17 years at Cedar Rapids Washington High School where he received his National Board Certification in Mathematics, served as the Science Department Chair, an Instructional Coach, and was part of the a Building Leadership Team.
“I am excited to join the College Community School District as the high school associate principal, said Kleman. “The level of community support and educational partnerships is impressive and I look forward to encouraging, supporting, and leading in the context of those partnerships for the benefit of all students at Prairie High School.”
Kleman earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University and his Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Northern Iowa. Ian and his wife Gina have three children, Caleb, Lewis and Katya.
