Prairie Wrestlers in State Finals

Prairie Senior Austin Kegley

The Prairie Hawks were well represented in the 2020 state wrestling tournament championships.  Seniors Austin Kegley (120 lbs.) and Ashton Stoner-DeGroot (195 lbs.) each earned the right to compete for a state championship by pinning their way through their respective state bracket.

It was the first time since 2014 that the Hawks boasted multiple finalists.  Austin and Ashton were both defeated in their title pursuit and finished runner-up.  The senior duo concluded their stellar careers having each earned three state medals.  They were joined at state by teammates state qualifiers Blake Gioimo (106 lbs-Freshmen), Hunter Kalous (113 lbs-Junior), and Johnny Washburn (145 lbs-Senior).

The Prairie Hawks team finished in 12th place, just four points short of a top ten finish.
