The meeting was called to order by President, Lauraine Harding and everyone introduced themselves.
Kim Smith read the Treasurer's Report. The ending balance for April is $29,000. We are still waiting for a few expenses and some Fun Fair deposits. We should have approximately $32,000 after all of these come in.
The PTO Funds committee presented some of their ides. The PTO approved to give Mr. Smith some money for gym equipment. They are also dealing with Landscape and Miracle for the replacement of our playground equipment. The committee wants to replace the old basketball hoops with Funnel Balls, take out the old swing set and leave this area for future purchases, put in a new swingset, take out the marry-go-round and replace this with some new things. The committee asked for PTO approval to spend approximately $25,000 over the summer for these purchases, and the power to decide what is purchased, so that the playground can be ready for the students when they return to school in the fall. The committee also asked for approval to contact parents over the summer to help install the equipment that is purchased. All of these requests were approved by the PTO.
Mrs. Lanich read the Principal's Report. There are many activities coming up in May. She presented a request from Mrs. Cink for the PTO to provide busing for her class to go to Jones Park for a picnic. This was approved.
Mrs. Mathers and Mrs. Zastrow requested $865 to start up a Prairie Pride Patrol. This money would go toward printing of brochures, transportation, postage, and window clings. This is a project they want to start next year. The PTO approved this money.
April minutes were read.
Kindergarten Round-Up day was a huge success. The night wasn't as successful. Only about half of the parents attended.
The 5th Grade Dubuque trips will be May 11th and May 21st. The May 5th trip had to be postponed to May 21st due to flooding in Dubuque.
The 5th Grade Picnic will be held on June 1st and Jones Park. The committee is still in need of parent volunteers to help out on this day. It was suggested by Lauraine Harding to open it up to ask 3rd and 4th grade parents to help out.
Enrichment Day will be May 31st.
The Memory Book is going very well, and will be distributed by the end of the month. It was suggested to have someone learn how to do the Memory Book from Becky Croy and Michelle Black next year, so that they can take it over in the future.
Teacher's Appreciation Breakfast will be May 24th.
We will be looking into new ChildCare for PTO meetings and possibly conferences next year. The Family Living class at the High School and well as the High School Girls Basketball team were suggested. It was approved to pay $25 for meetings, plus extra if the meetings run late. Conferences will be more if we decide to provide Child Care for this.
The possibility of having Zio Johno's all you can eat spaghetti at Open House instead of pizza, was discussed. No definite decision was made at this time.
The PTO officers and Mrs. Lanich will meet on August 13 to discuss next year's budget.
The meeting was adjourned.
