Frequently Asked Open Enrollment Questions
Can I open enroll my child at College Community?
Although Open Enrollment Legislation was passed by the Iowa legislature in 1989 to give students and parents the option of enrolling in school district in which they do not reside, College Community is not approving applications for open enrollment into the district. Since 1989, Prairie has been a school of choice causing the School Board to close open enrollment to slow growth and reduce class size.
Why are some people still approved for open enrollment?
We do approve siblings of existing students to keep families together as well as current students who move out of our district so they can continue their education at College Community.
