Welcome to Prairie High School. We are proud of our outstanding tradition of Academic Excellence. Prairie High School was awarded the FINE (First In The Nation In Education) award during the 1999-2000 school year by the state of Iowa. PHS was the only high school in the state to receive the FINE award for academic excellence.
Our academic program allows students to select a rigorous course of study each of their four years. The 2003-04 Curriculum Guide for parents and students is available on our web site and all students and parents are given a copy by their advisor. Advanced Placement courses, honors courses, and free college-level courses are available to junior and senior students.
A special program called THE CAREER EDGE allows students to take courses in Information Technology including Web Page Design, CISCO Programming, Computer Programming, Networking, Video Design, Systems Dynamic Modeling, Computer Graphics, Digital Photography, and Job Shadow / Internships.
Finally, all students who graduate from PHS must have a 4-year portfolio of their best work and do a Senior Presentation in April of their senior year. Contact me if you need more information about PHS or would like to visit "A place for learning."
