Saturday Suspension Program
The Saturday Suspension Program provides a valuable tool in helping students to assume responsibility for the choices they make at school. Our goal at Prairie High School is to develop Self-Directed Learners and Responsible Citizens, in order to help encourage this positive development we enforce behavioral expectations.
A Saturday suspension may be issued when:
This suspension program, which was initiated in March 2000, is held on Saturday mornings from 8:00 am to 11:00 am in the Success Center. Students are required to arrive on time and are expected to follow strict guidelines to successfully complete the suspension. These guidelines are shared with the student when the suspension is assigned; in addition, they are mailed to the parents.
Similar to the traditional suspension program, a student must successfully meet their obligation before returning to their regular schedule.
The Prairie School Board is supportive of this program as a tool to encourage socially acceptable behaviors - these behaviors are necessary on the job, in our community, in school, and as part of the family unit.
