Prairie is
a public high school serving students in grades 9-12 that is located on the
Southwest edge of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Students live in Cedar Rapids and the
surrounding communities of Shueyville, Swisher, Fairfax, Walford, and Ely.
Approximately 1000 students attend Prairie High School.
What makes
PHS unique?
- As part of a graduation
requirement, all graduates create a four-year portfolio that contains
evidence of their high school work to prepare for "life after high
school."
- All graduates do
a senior presentation to qualify for graduation.
- All students have
an advisor who helps them during their years in high school.
- Students can take
college level courses while enrolled at PHS and receive college and high
school credit at no cost.
- State-of-the-art
technology is available and used by students and faculty.
- A Basic Academic
Skills Certificate in reading, language arts, and math and a Technology
Certificate are required for graduation.
