What is Prairie’s “Learning Portal”?
It is personalized interface or space that organizes each teacher, principal,
and
administrator’s daily professional work and learning. It serves as
a “job-embedded” learning support tool as well as a professional learning
portfolio.
How is the “Learning Portal” used?
- Professional Practice Tools: Faculty access general student information,
current and historical student achievement data per class roster(s),
standards-based curriculum/assessment/assignment design tools as well as
newsletter design templates.
- Professional Development Tools: Design and management
of individual Professional Learning Plans, collaborative planning and learning
tools (i.e. action research, lesson study, student work analysis, protocols,
etc.)
- Research Library: Access to district-sanctioned research
related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, adult learning, classroom
management,
customer service, etc. serves each building’s and faculty member’s
learning plans.
- Meeting Tools: Common meeting templates are shared by
all faculty as they work, learn, and share their ideas, discoveries, and
understandings
related to
school improvement, professional development, and school
operations.
- Learning Space: Access to a text, audio, and video archive
of past or emerging professional development topics, i.e. differentiated
instruction,
Total Physical Response—Storytelling (TPRS).
- Calendar: Each user uses their
portal’s calendar feature to view their daily work
and professional learning activities.
- Reports: Individual, school, and district reports are
generated from the portal’s
various data fields to guide campus wide planning for
future professional development.
